I want to like people...

Hi!
I read this sentiment the other day which I found just fabulous. So true, lol!
I toned one word down a bit though...

So, I started with a background I had already made.

Most of the leaves were bleached out, so I started filling them in with purple ink (Dylusions in water brush).

One page done!

I bleached out the rest of the leaves, using water to lift the ink off the paper.

All leaves filled in with purple!

"Dotting" with white pen. It's wise to leave the page at least over night, making sure the ink is really dry (or else the white will turn pink).

All dotted!

Then playing around with some collage elements. Which head to use..?

Realising I wanted more in the background, I grabbed my black Dylusions paint, a mini ink blender and a skull stencil.

Now that's better!

Adding the sentiment with a white posca paint pen. I did two layers to make it opaque.

Outlining the white letters with a black micron pen to make them stand out more.

Adding wing to my gal, outlining the whole figure and adding some writing up the side.

Circles - I need circles!

..and more background elements...

Adding just a little bit of colour to the face and wing.

...and there you go! A new AJ spread done.

This is my entry for Art Journal Monday over at Mixed Media Mojo. Why don't you pop over and have a look at the inspirational posts and our challenge?

May we be strong women

Hi!
It's time for a new challenge over at Mixed Media Mojo, and this is my first contribution as a design team member.
Our May challenge is this tic tac toe board:

I chose the top left diagonal; the word "May", stencil, stamp, and ended up with this Dyan Reavley inspired art journal page.

I've used Dylusions sprays, paints (well, just the black), stencils and stamp block, Dina Wakley Media Line stamps and stencil and my trusted white UniBall Signo Broad pen.

Here's what I did:

I took one of the many premade background pages from my Dylusions journal

used a mask and black paint to create "windows"

doodled around the windows, first with a black pen, then white

 stamped images through co-ordinating stencil

used the Dylusions block to draw a frame

took another stencil and doodled inside

 added some more doodling
and..
DONE!
Now all that remains, is to put the page back in my journal.

Here are some close ups..

Now pop on over to the Mixed Media Mojo site and join our challenge!

KaiserCraft card

Hi lovelies!

This card is a DT contribution for Hobbykunst
It is made from gorgeous papers by KaiserCraft. The collection is called Betsy's Couture.

Papers used: A-line, Gown and Mary Jane from Betsy's Couture collection. On the inside I've used Blue Bay from the Sapphire collection (also KaiserCraft).
The word Dream is a clear sticker from KaiserCraft's Delicate Words stickers.
The clock in the background is a Tim Holtz/Sizzix die.

Inside (don't you just looooove the dimension in this paper):

Thanks for stopping by!
Have a fantastic week!

Mixed Media Canvas ~ Dina Wakley Inspired

I made this mixed media canvas from a technique in Dina Wakley's newest book, Art Journal Courage. I loved the idea of making a stencil of someone I know (rather than myself.. hehe).

As I am a member of Hobbykunst's designteam, I thought that the fabulous Connie would be the perfect "victim".. She is the heart and soul of Hobbykunst, and is continuing the journey of Hobbykunst as an online shop as the store in Vestby unfortunately is closing.

A step by step tutorial, you asked?
By all means!

Prep canvas with gesso and let dry.
Make puddle with Dylusions Bubblegum Pink and let run. Spray Funky Fuchsia through Dina Wakley stencil and let dry.

Fill fineliner with Golden Fluid Acrylics Teal and make circles. Let dry.

Edit photo on computer and cut out stencil.

Place stencil on canvas and cover everything you don't want black...

Spray with Liquitex Carbon Black spray paint. Should be done outside. Quickly lift stencil.

Ta-daaa!

Now add a quote using different stencils and black gesso. You can also use black paint, but I quite like the matte finish the black gesso gives.

Add some texture.

...and then some writing...

And voilá, you're done!

I wish Connie the best of luck!
If you live in Norway, please support Hobbykunst

Thanks!

Baby card

Hi!
I made this baby card for our friends who just had a gorgeous baby boy.
The image is a digital stamp, I can't remember who made it unfortunately.. I've coloured it with Chameleon pens, and this was my first try. I can see I need to practise using these... Great fun though!

Artist guardian angel

Well hello there!

It's been a while! I'm in the middle of moving houses, but I thought I'd share a project I made a while back. This is a mixed media painting on watercolour of my artist guardian angel, inspired by Tamara Laporte.

I'm finally getting my own craft room - whoop whoop! No more garage attic!! Can't wait to get organised (though that may take a while..).

Have a wonderful week lovelies!
