Dylusions mask #2

My second Dylusions mask was finished a while back, I just haven't had the time to put it up on the blog until now.
This one is quite different from the first one, with less dimension.. This time I went for a spider theme..

Both skull and bird have been embossed

Glossy Accents is added to give spiders dimension

This sleeping beauty is having "sweet" dreams about spiders... She is coloured with Dylusions inks in water brushes, and her body is embossed with clear embossing powder. The lips have got Glossy Accents on them, and I used orange Stickles to bling up the eye lashes a bit.

That's my second and last Dylusions mask, folks! What a fun project to make!
24 days to AFTH weekend!!!! Whooooohoooo!!!!!

Dylusions mask - a fishy one..

Today I completed one of my favourite projects ever - a Dylusions mask! Such fun!!
I made this for Hobbykunst on Connie's request.

First I started off with a blank mask, made from paper mache. I had to prime it with gesso, since it was brown (kraft)..
Once dry, I started creating my water background, using Dylusions sprays Vibrant turquoise, Calypso teal and Cut grass. It took quite a few layers of ink to get the effect I wanted, because of the gesso.

I then stamped some sea weed around the bottom of the mask.
I tried colouring it with Cut Grass at first, but that didn't show very much, so I ended up with painting it with Liquid Pearls Key Lime.

Went around the edges with a black pen to make the sea weed stand out a bit more..

I then stamped, coloured and cut out more sea weed, another kind this time. This was coloured with Fresh Lime and Cut Grass, and glued to the top of the mask once dry.

Now all I had to do was stamp, colour and cut out loads of fish and creatures of the sea..
Before I glued these lovelies to the mask, they all got a dash of Glossy Accent on their eyes.

Some doodling and a lot of Glue Dots later.... the mask was done! Tadaaaaa! :)

I got the inspiration from Jim Hankins, aka The Gentleman Crafter.
He was the first one (as far as I know) to make these masks, and I would really like to thank him so much for all this fabulous work and inspiration!! Btw, did you see his Dylusions school bus? So so cool!

Can't wait to make my next mask!!!
(Just wish the day had more hours...)

Thanks for stopping by!

Crackled glass bell

I got this glass bell from Melissa Frances as a challenge from Connie at Hobbykunst. "Do what you like with it," she said.. Cool! :)
I immediately thought of a vintage bottle that Wendy Vecchi once made using crackle paint. It's on her blog somewhere.. I decided to use her technique for my glass bell.

First I primed the glass bell with multi medium matte from Claudine Hellmuth/Ranger. If you skip this step, the crackle paint will just fall off if you touch it once it's dry.. So, very important!

Once dry, I gave it a generous coat of Distress Crackle paint - Clear rock candy. Then all I had to do was wait patiently...

Crackles beginning to emerge!

Then, when the crackle paint had done its part, all I had to do was to decorate the now crackled glass bell inside and out!

I made a decoration from different Mathia flowers, which I glued to the base (that I'd painted in a light pink colour) with my glue gun. Once this was set, I fixed the bell to the base and decorated the outside with some pink string, a charm and a bird on top, and some lace on the bottom. I used a textile pearl pen to make some pearls on the lace.

Here's the finished project:

This was a fun project!
It looks quite fancy, but it was SO easy to make! Why don't you try it?

Have a great weekend!
