Dylusions mask - a fishy one..

Today I completed one of my favourite projects ever - a Dylusions mask! Such fun!!
I made this for Hobbykunst on Connie's request.

First I started off with a blank mask, made from paper mache. I had to prime it with gesso, since it was brown (kraft)..
Once dry, I started creating my water background, using Dylusions sprays Vibrant turquoise, Calypso teal and Cut grass. It took quite a few layers of ink to get the effect I wanted, because of the gesso.

I then stamped some sea weed around the bottom of the mask.
I tried colouring it with Cut Grass at first, but that didn't show very much, so I ended up with painting it with Liquid Pearls Key Lime.

Went around the edges with a black pen to make the sea weed stand out a bit more..

I then stamped, coloured and cut out more sea weed, another kind this time. This was coloured with Fresh Lime and Cut Grass, and glued to the top of the mask once dry.

Now all I had to do was stamp, colour and cut out loads of fish and creatures of the sea..
Before I glued these lovelies to the mask, they all got a dash of Glossy Accent on their eyes.

Some doodling and a lot of Glue Dots later.... the mask was done! Tadaaaaa! :)

I got the inspiration from Jim Hankins, aka The Gentleman Crafter.
He was the first one (as far as I know) to make these masks, and I would really like to thank him so much for all this fabulous work and inspiration!! Btw, did you see his Dylusions school bus? So so cool!

Can't wait to make my next mask!!!
(Just wish the day had more hours...)

Thanks for stopping by!

SGC #68 - You can say that again

Hi there!
Just a super quick blog post from me today.
In this week's challenge over at the Southern Girls we would like you to use sentiments or quotes on your projects.
As many of you know, I have a thing for Dyan's Dylusions products, and hence a dylusional tag from me this time! :)

Hope you'll join our challenge!
Thanks for stopping by my place.
