Birthday card for an 80 year old man

This card I made earlier this year when the lovely Thor turned 80.

It's been so long since I made it that I don't really remember the details.. Only that I used kraft core cardstock (Tim Holtz), lots of distressing and sewing.. The clock is a TH die.
Thanks for looking!

Wishing you all a peaceful and wonderful new year.

Fly away ~ a mixed media canvas

Hi all!
Just a quick post to show you a canvas I made when I was in the European Scrap Challenge. I'd never made a canvas like that before, and it was great fun making it. I think this one is really "me"..

I've painted the canvas with Distress paint Black soot and Stewart Gill MetaMica paint Moonlight and Silver. The MetaMica paints are absolutely gorgeous!!!
I've embellished with lots of different Tim Holtz idea-ology products and flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts, sprayed with Dylusions Black marble.
The flying steampunk man is a stamped image from Lost Coast Designs, an American company with soooo many gorgeous stamps!!

Hope you all will have a fabulous weekend, I know I will! ;)

Tim Holtz configuration box

This is a configuration box I made a while back.
It's filled with papers and goodies from Tim Holtz.

I'll just pop in the pictures, don't have the energy to write the details right now. Maybe some other time.. ;)

Have a fabulous weekend!
I will "enjoy" my penicillin this weekend and hope it kills the tonsillitis..

Live ~ a mixed media canvas

Hi there!
I've got so much on my plate recently that I haven't had the time to make anything new, which really bugs me! Got so much left from CC102 I need to get done, but there just aren't enough hours in the day. Sounds familiar?

Anyway! :) Just wanted to post a mixed media canvas I did for Hobbykunst a while back. I was given a blank canvas and some oil pastels, and this is the result. Pictures borrowed from Hobbykunst's blog.

A couple of ATCs - European Scrap Challenge

Here are the ATCs from round 2 and 3 in the European Scrap Challenge I'm currently participating in. Round 4 is now open for voting, and I'm entering in the categories ATC, Alter, Card and Mixed Media! I'm really honoured to have gotten this far in all the categories I entered!

Anyways.. Here are the ATCs!

Here's the one from round 2. It's made from this great ATC stamp from Tim Holtz / Stampers Anonymous. The background is made from Dylusions (I used the new Dylusions ink spray pad).

This one's from round 3. I used a TH stamp here too. I inked it up with various Distress markers. The star and rays got some Distress stickles Clear rock candy for an extra sparkle.. I'm not really super satisfied with this last one, but who cares - I got the votes I needed to go on to round 4.. lol

Can't wait to show you what I made in this round (can't do that until the voting closes)! Stay tuned!

Also, today is the first day of Creative Chemistry 102! Can't wait to get started! Whoop whoop!!
 See you in class?

European Scrap Challenge - Mixed Media part 2

The task in round 2 of European Scrap Challenge was to use only one word. A word that described why we like having this hobby.
For my mixed media piece, I decided on the word DREAM. I wanted to use this word because playing in my journal really gives me peace of mind and lets my thoughts and dreams wander..

Here's the spread I did in my gorgeous journal
(a ledger from the 60s - I love it!):

I've used Golden fluid acrylics Teal and Cadimum Yellow  + Dylusions Squeezed Orange to the background. The right hand circles are made from an empty kitchen roll (I used Distress Paint Black Soot). The circles on the left are coloured with Dylusions Squeezed Orange and Lemon Zest and cut out from a telephone book. I've circled them with my Sharpie and sewn around it on the sewing machine (not very easy when the paper is thin..).
The star and figure stamp are from Dina Wakley, while the letters are Tim Holtz foam stamps.
I've also used TH tissue tape, bubble wrap and modeling paste...

Circles close up

The tag is coloured the new Dylusions pad inked up with Squeezed Orange, Bubblegum Pink and Lemon Zest. The stamp is from Tim Holtz / Stampers Anonymous.

It was so much fun doing this spread! And, I made it to the next round! How cool is that?!

Tag inspired by Tim Holtz

I don't know why I haven't published this tag before, it's ages since I made it! Anyway.. It's inspired by a tag TH made. Maybe it was one of the 2013 tags, I don't remember!! Lol! That's what vacation does to you...

Except the stamp used on the seam binding (which is from Prima), all of the products used on this tag is from Tim. Stamps, inks, embossing folder, dies and embellishments.. Can't get enough of his products!

Happy Friday!

It's about a month ago, but I still haven't forgotten.. And I have photo evidence too!! Lol!

That's today's bragging over and done with! He he..
Have a good one!

SGC #74 - Animal Antics

This fortnight we at the Southern Girls Challenge blog want to see you use animals on your projects!

Time was short for me this time, since I just got home from holiday, so I made a CAS card. I had brought the image and my Distress reinkers with me to the cabin, but unfortunately all the inks got mixed on the way (uuups..).
So I went through the other stash I'd brought, and ended up colouring it with Gelatos and a waterbrush...

The image is from The Paper Shelter, and is called Jurassic Love.
Papers are from Abbey Road and Ladybug and Friends.
Punch from Martha Stewart (Doily Lace) and heart die from Nellie Snellen.
The text stamp is from Tim Holtz (Simple Sayings).

This is my last DT entry at the Southern Girls. I've got so much on my plate at the moment, that something unfortunately had to go.. Some of the others have done as I, but we have all been replaced by other really talented girls!
I can't wait to see what they will come up with in future challenges! :)

Thanks

Tim Holtz meets Dylusions - a birthday tag

Here's a tag I made the other day for my brother in law.
Let's start with the background..
I've used the Dylusions ink sprays White Linen, London Blue, Calypso Teal, After Midnight and Cut Grass. Ghosting and spraying throught stencils gave the background some layers...
The circles are made with a lid from one of the sprays and white paint.
The star stamps are from Dina Wakley, and I've outlined the bottom corner one with my white Sharpie paint pen.

I stamped "Dream" on the tag, and outlined it with my Sharpie.
This gorgeous stamp from Tim Holtz is coloured with Dylusions inks in waterbrushes and outlined with my Sharpie.

The back of the tag. The circles are from Tim Holtz. I've sown the bottom with my sewing machine.
The seam binding is coloured with variuos Dylusions inks and Distress Stains.

A weekend with Dyan Reaveley

The last weekend this June I was fortunate enough to attend a weekend workshop with her majesty Dyan Reaveley at Art From The Heart. The workshop was called "Homemade books and journals".
Here's my little recap..

Friday I left for Manchester Airport from Oslo-Gardermoen via Sola-Stavanger.
The flights were pleasant, but when I went to collect my luggage at Manchester, my suitcase was missing. It turned out it was still at Stavanger.. Typical, just my luck! Oh well...

From Manchester Airport I went by train to Leeds and from there to Harrogate. Finally, after ten hours of travelling, I was there!!

About 45 minutes after arriving, I got a taxi (missed the train - typical!) to Art From The Heart. I was super excited!!!!!
Yaaaayyyy!!! I'm in the Queen's palace!!!

Here are some sneek peeks into the studio, with all the lovelies playing along with Dyan.

And the Queen herself in action!
 Make big puddles!!
 Blend..
 Put another paper on top...

Here's a couple of the pages for my sown book.

 Inky fingers!

On Saturday, my luggage had arrived the hotel, and I finally had my journaling stuff at hand. So after having dinner with a couple of really lovely ladies, I went to my very own studio - lol!
There was of course a desk in my bedroom, but the lighting there was rubbish. So the bathroom was the next best thing! If there's a will, there's a way... lol

There's nothing like journaling in your PJs!!

And here's as far as I got with the page. Love the colours!!!

Now let me present the three journals I made during the weekend:
 Ta-daaaaaa!!

And here are all the lovelies who attended the workshop
A great group of girls!!! I hope I can meet them again!

Of course, when you're at AFTH, some shopping is manditory... lol! Here's what I got:

I also had time for about 15 minutes of shopping in town as well.. Love the bracelets I got for myself!

While waiting for various trains and planes on my way home to Norway, I had time to finish two pages in my smallest journal. I absolutely love the stamps from Stampotique! They're really hard to get in Norway, so I stamped away as much as I could when I borrowed Dyan's.. hehe...

So that was my weekend at Art From The Heart. I must say, Dyan really impresses me. She is a wonderful artist, a loving mother and such a wonderful person! I loved being at her studio - the atmosphere was so relaxed and natural - not "stiff" like it sometimes tends to be at workshops back home.
I sure hope Dyan will arrange another weekend workshop, or workshops in two-three days in a row next summer as well! If so, I will be there!!!!! :)

Thanks to all the wonderful ladies who were at AFTH, to Ali who made delicious food for us, and a huge hug and MWAH to her colourful majesty, Queen Dyan!
